Will a maniac stage of bipolar work itself out or should one seek medical help for this person?
What should one do when a family member is going through the maniac stage of bipolar? Will it sort itself out or should I seek help for this person?
It’s lasted for over a week. This family member has gotten little sleep and is extremely paranoid. She is extremely confused (convinced all meat is poisoned, the ground is unholy, etc).
Also — how long will it take this person to burn out since it’s been going on for just over a week.

There’s no predictor of how long the episode will last except her past episodes. As everyone has said, it will end, but she could caue irreparable damage in the mean time. She should be seen by a psychiatrist if possible because bipolar is a progressive illness and each episode will be worse than the previous.
Have a doctor talk to her. She might need to spend a few days in a psych hospital…to get her stabilized. Most people think people with bipolar only need to seek help when in the depressed stage and suicidal but that’s not true….any stage of bipolar could cause some one to need to get some help.
Yes, she needs professional help.
It will ‘burn out’ eventually, but she may harm herself, or her finances or suchlike before then.
it will burn itself out, eventually, its just the damage it can cause in the mean time. try giving your friends some lecithin, its a natural mood stabilizer and should work quite quickley, like a few hours you may need to take two to three pills every 2-4 hours till it breaks, if it get realy bad then take her to the hospital,
