Why the Word Smug Should Mean a Lot to an Agoraphobic

People who suffer from agoraphobia are paranoid. People who are paranoid are very suspicious of others or their intentions.

The exact opposite of paranoid is smug.

A person who is smug is calm and relaxed and may I say a bit too much.

He conveys the belief that he does not get worked up easily. He also portrays through action that he can take the outcome of any activity in his strides, whether good or bad. It’s as though he could care less!

Why should this matter to you? Why should this matter to someone suffering from anxiety?

Simple- words have power!

And what better word can there be for a agoraphobic than smug!

Now, how can you use this to overcome your problem?

There is this very effective affirmation, though common but little appreciated.

It is “Every day and in every way, I am getting better and better”

Another variation goes like this “Everyday and in very way, I am looking better and better”

Brian Tracy, a very popular writer said that patients who the above affirmations were spoken to in a hospital had a recovery rate five (5) times higher than other patients.
So, it does work!

To help you overcome your panic disorder, simply make a variation of the above affirmation. That is “Everyday and in every way, I am getting smuggier and smuggier”. The word may not exist in a dictionary but to you, it now does! Also add “Everyday and in every way, I am looking smuggier and smuggier”. Or simply “Everyday and in every way, I am getting smug” or “looking smug”.

Either you say this to yourself everyday or get someone to say it to you. Continuing repeating unrelentingly and soon enough you will notice benefits.

Remember from now on you are no longer paranoid. You are smug, aren’t you?
