Apart from resisting arrest, hitting the arresting officer.
in plain English it’s called resisting arrest
Assaulting a police officer while resisting when he is attempting to place you into custody
In plain English. Belting a Police Officer whilst he is trying to arrest you.
Means hitting another person, police officer, while they are trying to contain you or get you under control.
its kicking the shite out of the old bill as they try to Nick yee.
or resisting arrest with bodily force
It means….The "police have slipped up and arrived on time at an incident, but rather than tackle the real criminals they have grabbed the nearest, softest looking by-stander they can find, and added the "resist" bit just to make it stick!
It means somebody hit a Police Officer while resisting arrest
The offence is that that of ‘Assault with intent to resist arrest’.
It is exactly what it saysd on the tin, but is NOT simply ‘resisting arrest’ as that misses out a vital point. The assault!
An ‘assault’ does not actually require physical contact by the offender just a threat of imediate violence.
i.e. Bobby takes hold of your arm. He tells you youre nicked and you reply ‘Let me go now or i will stove your head in. You aint gonna lock me up!’ That is technically an assault.
If the same offender then punches the officer that is a ‘battery’. Both assault and battery are generally refered to as one under the title of ‘assault’.
This offence applies ‘any person’ and so soes not simply apply to police officers. This could be the security officers detaining a shoplifter for example.
It also requires the arrest to be a legal one. If the person is acting outside their legal remit and the person assaults them in order to escape this offence would not be made out.
