What happens when your parents make you see a psychiatrist about your eating disorder?
They just found out I have an eating disorder.
I have no idea whats going to happen. Can someone tell me?
Also I don’t want to get "better" and I don’t want to talk to anyone about it.
Will they make me go to the doctor? I’m not underweight. My BMI is about 22. I did a combination of purging/not eating/overexercising.

what happens? you just talk….and tell him everything…..and dang girl eat…guys don’t like these walking skeletons these days. I hope you decide that you want to get better.
All that will happen is someone will try to talk to you. You don’t have to say anything that you don’t want to. Best of luck and don’t listen to any of the nasty comments that may be posted!
wow! ur hawwt u should dump ur boyfriend nd go out with me =]
do u have a myspace??
Yes, they will probably make you got to a doctor because eating disorders hurt your physical health no matter what your weight. The doctor will weigh you, do blood tests (to check for hormones, nutrition levels, iron deficiency, vitamin levels), check your blood pressure and heart rate, and may ask you a few questions about your eating disorder.
They may also make you see a nutritionist and psychologist. The nutritionist will talk to you about how she can help you to eat healthier, and will set goals for you in your recovery and help you to establish a healthy eating plan. If your parents do make you go to a nutritionist, I’d suggest that you ask them to get a nutritionist who specializes in eating disorders, since those who don’t specialize often find it harder to deal with eating disordered patients and are less able to understand the problems of a person with an eating disorder. Also, people who specialize in eating disorders are sometimes recovered anorexics/bulimic themselves and will be able to understand your thoughts about recovery.
A psychologist will ask you questions about your eating disorder such as when it began, why you think it started, what your life is like, how you relate to your family, your thougths about your weight and food, etc. The psychologist may also try to help you to deal with things in a healthier way, and if necessary, may also work with you and your family.
Depending on the severity of your eating disorder and your willingness or unwillingness to get treatment, your parents may also bring you/force you to go to group therapy, support groups, family therapy and/or a partial or inpatient treatment center.
I know it’s hard to be going through this right now, and I hope that things get better for you.
What happens?
Well they’re basically caring about you lots and lots at some facility or treatment basis.
And they’re basically trying to get to the bottom of why this has happened, and what caused it. And how they can fix it , using emotional distress to find the cause, and emotional support to cure. That’s why a physciartrist is now involved.
hope that helps??
