How to Overcome anxiety and Fear

Extreme nervousness and apprehension, excessive worrying and obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviours, anxiety attacks and panic attacks, irrational fears and phobias, even severe depression – are all based on anxiety and fear.

Millions of people spend a lifetime searching for the answer to these problems. Many undergo therapy or take medication for years, often with little success.

They can seem impossible to deal with and make us feel that we’ll never be free
… but it doesn’t have to be like this.

With the right knowledge it is possible to cure all these problems completely.

There is one way to truly overcome anxiety and fear, here it is:-

1. Grade things that cause you anxiety on a scale from 1-10 (more if you need to).
10 = situations / circumstances / compulsions / thoughts / tasks etc. that cause only very mild anxiety. 1 = the most terrifying.

2. Start with number 10.
Feel the anxiety, let it happen and control it by accepting it and relaxing. Note that here it is very important that you actually have anxiety, feel it and feel yourself
control it. The goal is not to be anxiety free, everyone has anxiety but for some of us we have become more sensitive to it. The aim is to experience a small amount
of anxiety at the lowest level and learn that we can control it. To feel ourselves control it.

3. Move to level 9.
Do the same as before. Feel the anxiety and feel yourself controlling it.

4. Gradually move up through the levels.
Only move to the next level when you have mastered taking control at each level. Remember, nobody in this world has no anxiety – it is part of being human. Taking control is feeling scared but remaining calm, not letting it progress to panic.

This is no magic method or trick. It is based on how we work as humans – how everybody develops confidence naturally –

Picture a young child, full of apprehension, approaching the (big, scary) ocean for the first time. First they let the water cover their feet; then, when they feel more confident they move deeper, up to their knees. As confidence grows, they move up to their waist … and so on.

We are doing nothing more. In the above we are simply breaking huge fears into smaller manageable parts and growing confident step-by-step.

In psychology, this is known as systematic desensitisation and using it, a good psychologist can often cure someone with a specific phobia in a matter of hours.
It’s possible to take a spider phobic from being petrified of looking at pictures of spiders to being able to allow big hairy (but harmless) spiders crawl over their hands. It is this successful because it utilizes the very way we work as humans in becoming confident.

When used in conjunction with other methods to reduce anxiety symptoms (mental and physical), it is possible to turn anxiety and fear into confidence.

Hematophobia – Overcome Your Blood Phobia with Hypnotherapy

An intense fear of blood is a phobia that we treat fairly regularly here in our UK hypno-psychotherapy practice.

Like all other phobias, blood phobia is essentially an anxiety disorder.

The person suffering from a phobia of blood may very well sense that it is illogical, but this does nothing to help him or her to deal with it.

The thought or the sight of blood automatically triggers an irrational fear that seems to overpower the individual, psychologically and even physically.

It can elicit a range of troubling symptoms such as sudden drop in blood pressure, feelings of fainting and dizziness, increased hearbeat, dry mouth and nausea.

Medically speaking, blood phobia has several different names and is spelled in a variety of different ways: hemophobia, haemophobia, hemaphobia and hematophobia being the most common.

The actual causes of this phobia usually lie in the individual’s past.

At some period in the past, the subconscious has linked or paired the thought or the sight of blood with feelings of extreme anxiety.

Most often this has occurred in childhood or in the adolescent years, although less frequently it may have taken place later on in life.

This may have happened directly – as a result of a past experience in which blood was involved – a medical procedure, injection, blood transfusion, accident or the like.

It also may have happened in an indirect manner – through someone else’s negative experience that was witnessed by the individual him or herself. Or it may have been modelled on someone else’s fear and anxiety and so learned vicariously.

There is also the possibility that in some individuals there is a genetic component or predisposition to this phobia, since it can be prevalent in other members of the family.

In my own clinical experience and opinion, however, this can also be explained by the child’s ability to model this fear on the reactions of parents and relevant others.

Whatever the cause, the fact is that this phobia can greatly affect and even jeopardise the person’s health.

Often the blood phobic individual will go to great lengths to avoid any situation or procedure that may cause blood to flow.

Doctors, nurses, hospitals, injections and other essential medical procedures may all be avoided, even when there is a real need for them.

In certain instances, hemophobia is also linked with a phobia of needles (trypnophobia) and/or a fear of death (thanatophobia).

Any treatment for the fear of blood also needs to take this into account. This is why when treating this fear, you need to work with a practitioner who has experience with this particular phobia.

The good news is that help is available.

Working with a suitably qualified and experienced advanced transformational hypnotherapist, it is possible to look back and to uncover the origins and causes of his phobia.

Once this is accomplished, the false belief that has been ‘programmed’ into the subconscious mind that blood equals anxiety can be neutralized.

In its place we can help the individual to experience feelings of calm and relaxation when thinking about or experiencing any circumstance that involves blood.

If you or someone you care about suffers from the fear of blood, blood phobia, also know as hemaphobia, hematophobia, hemophobia and haemophobia, then there really is something you can do about it.

Consult with a fully trained professional advanced transformational hypnotherapist who has experience in dealing with this phobia and begin the process of freeing yourself now.

Through the modern techniques of advanced hypnosis and hypnotherapy you can live your life as you were born to live it – free from the upset and anxiety when it comes to blood.

Overcome the Phobia by Building Resistance (15 Weirdest Phobias People You Know May Have)

Phobia relates to fear developed by a person towards a particular thing or issue. Though it sounds weird, it is very natural for people to suffer from one or the other kind of phobias. For general people, phobia may sound silly, but that is the truth. A person will have phobia for one or the other things.

The most common phobia known to people is called claustrophobia. It means people are afraid of closed places. It could be a dark room or enclosed space. If people are put inside such places, they will surely be afraid. Similarly, there is another phobia relating to water. It is called hydrophobia. The word hydrophobia relates to fear of water. For some people, hydrophobia is quite natural for some others it is acquired. The hydrophobia develops whenever people accidentally fall into water when they are not in a position to swim to the shore. The only way through which one can overcome hydrophobia is to build strong resistance. Sometimes, building resistance could backfire against an individual. Therefore, the resistance building process is should be slow and gradual.

Hydrophobia also hits people suffering from rabies. It is the terminal stage of the infection. The hydrophobia is so intense that people suffering from rabies even refuse to consume water leading to terminal illness. However, so far, no cure has been found for hydrophobia.

Another kind of phobia is the fear of heights. This phobia is called vertigo. People are afraid to stand at heights and look down. People suffering from vertigo are recommended not to take up hobbies such as mountaineering or rock climbing.

Some people have fear against animals and they are very specific. For instances, people are afraid of spiders. This particular condition is called arachnophobia. It is well researched topic and people are often found to be suffering from arachnophobia. This is more profound among people found in the American continent where a variety of spiders are found. Another enhanced form of phobia is related to cockroaches. This particular phobia is displayed the most among people these days. This phobia in particular is found to be the highest among people across the world in most of the countries.

Some people are also afraid of creepy and crawly things such as a snakes, lizards and worms. This is the second most common phobia among the general public. However, no cure is available for this phobia. People think it is common for them to have multiple phobias. They are displayed at different times in different zones depending on the situation. For instance, some people fear rats and there is nothing wrong in it. People dread rats because of their crawly nature. However, for fear of rats too, there is no cure. The only way a person can overcome the problem is to build resistance as much as possible. However, physicians suggest people against building resistance for phobias.
