I need a hobby to help keep my anxiety distracted?
I am 19 and just recently realized I have lived my whole life with anxiety problems. My dad has also had problems his whole life. Its getting so bad that I am afraid to do anything (meeting new people, talking to people I know, or being in crowded places) I’ve heard that a hobby will help keep my mind off it. If anyone has any suggestions or other remedies please do tell. My life is going deeper and deeper into a rut and I want to get out, away and back on track!

Okay, first of all good for you for wanting to get yourself some help.
This will sound stupid, but try it a couple of times and you will be amazed. Go out and walk very very fast, as fast as you can, until you are thoroughly out of breath, for 20 minutes. Time yourself! At the end of 20 minutes, you will feel measurably calmer.
Do this at least once a day and try to do it twice. It will change your whole body chemistry and it helps keep down anxiety as well as all the drugs. (If you could get your dad to do this too it would be a great blessing.)
I’m not saying a therapist can’t help or drugs can’t help get you through stuff, and a hobby is a great distraction (it doesn’t matter what it is — just choose what you like to do — but I’ve heard that working with animals is great for stress, walk someone’s dog or volunteer at a shelter.)
Definitely hobby can divert your mind into anything that is stressful. So I suggest you collect and build model train. This is a fun hobby that will surely occupy your mind plus this is beneficial since you can unleashes the creativity within you.
