How do i know if iam developing an eating disorder?
Hi, I’m a 17 year old girl and i have recently started dieting. i have become obsessed with counting calories and paranoid with what i eat and gaining weight. this is putting so much unnecessary stress on me. i am becoming more depressed and feeling guilty about food. i am afraid of developing an eating disorder. I’m planning to see my doctor but wonder if any one has advice for me or can tell me if I’m headed towrds an eating disorder.

I’ve walked in your shoes before.Seeing a doctor and talking about this with people who care about you is the best thing you can do.Don’t be paranoid about eating. If you slip up one day or even all seven days of the week, don’t worry!Just change it up, and keep moving towards your weight goal.Losing weight, or I should say, changing eating habits is not easy for some.Take it one day at a time, and pace yourself.Make sure you’re exercising along with eating healthy!
See your doctor ASAP,you are 17,you should be happy,I am 48 and I can tell you how quick life passes, enjoy it now.
It isn’t necessary to count calories unless you have a specific goal. Simply avoid fatty and sugary food , swap white bread for wholemeal/grain and eat smaller meals more frequently. If after about a month you think your either gaining or losing weight just add or cut down on the food marginally, you just adjust accordingly it’s actually fairly simple and doesn’t need to be stressed over.
It’s ok to diet, but don’t get worried or feel guilty about eating.
A lot of my friends thought I was becoming anorexic when the same thing happened to me when I was around 13. I was losing weight dramatically and everyone was really worried. I went from 98 to 82 pounds in about a week and a half or a few days more. My friends bugged me about it enough and forced me to eat. Now I am still conscious of what I eat, but I still eat. Now I am 5′ and I weigh 95 pounds.
Don’t worry about the way you look or feel. All teenage girls feel overweight and I think that’s just because with all of our emotions and stuff it’s easier to feel sorry for ourselves. Plus with all of those super skinny people on TV, we just feel self-conscious.
I hope you get through everything okay!
