Has anyone tried hypnotherapy for the cure of phobias?
My wife has a spider phobia and if we can get over it it might open up a whole world of travel for us. Has anyone been hypnotised to cure phobias, or got info on costs and whats involved?

Hello Andy
Hypnotherapy is excellent for phobia & can be achieved in a single session. I would recomend it to anyone.

As a hypnotherapist, I can tell you that many people have success with using hypnotherapy for fears and phobias. I would be lying if I said that there were not mixed results, but generally, if a person wants to resolve their phobia, then it’s possible.
You should try and find a hypnotherapist who is experienced in the subject area. The technique commonly used is to have you reframe your immediate response to seeing a spider into a calmer reaction, rather than a knee-jerk reaction. There are other techniques. The subject is hypnotized – i.e. placed into a state of deep relaxation where the subconscious is responsive to such suggestions.
Phone hypnotherapy is more common these days, although in the case of phobias where the hypnotherapist needs to see the subject’s abreactions (responses) to the suggestions presented in-person sessions, or at least the initial session, may be more appropriate. Many hypnotherapists also offer a free consultation so that you can determine if hypnosis is going to work for you. However, be prepared for at least 3-6 sessions and maybe more to fully resolve your situation.
Costs are wide open – Some charge $50/session, others $150. Generally insurance will not cover hypnotherapy.
The above advice really applies to the use of hypnotherapy generally. I hope that this helps and that you end up visiting many exciting and exotic places.
