Handling Frustration
From time to time, you are bound to be confronted with frustration, and there is no way we can avoid this as it is part of our lives. That said, you need to know how to deal with them effectively and constructively instead of destructively where you can actually hurt others while doing so.
If you think about it, frustration is merely a feeling we experience, by itself it is harmless, it is the way we express it that gives it the meaning. As such, failures to handle them in the correct way will most likely results in more frustration not only for you, as well as for others.
One strange thing about letting out your frustration is that it is a learned skilled, if you reflect back, you might be letting frustration out of you the same way your parents did! This is simply because it is a skill set that can be learned and thus we may learn exactly the same way our parents did it when we’re at a very young age.
Therefore, if frustration have somewhat caused some inconvenience in your life or in other people’s life, then it might be a good time to rethink how you can change just that.
Listed below are some ways you can use to deal with frustration more effectively.
-Learn how to give others respect – The most common cause of frustration is when our views and opinion do not get accepted by others, and as such leading to a frustrating period due to differing opinions. When you think about it, if you do not wish others to impose their views on you the same way you did on others, why are you doing it? Give others the respect they deserve and you will soon find yourself needing to deal with this feeling a lot less.
-Have a sense of self – Having a sense of yourself can give you the confidence you need in life, by being sure and discovering who you are, you are less likely to be frustrated of other’s opinion as you are self affirmed enough to deal with criticism.
-Understand what you can or can not control – By understanding that some things are out of your hand, you stop trying to save the world and become frustrated at the lack of ability to change things. There are some things that we just can not change and we should not be too worried and worked up about it.
Frustrations can sometimes turns you into someone you can not recognized due to rage and anger, taking the time to relearn the way you deal with frustrations can help you manage the way you live your life, and for a better one!
