Do phobias get stronger with age? Any tips on how to get rid of them?
I have a slightly irrational fear of heights. I despise flying and tall buildings. But i am finding they get stronger with age. I am not even sure what causes phobias. Just curious if anyone else feels they get stronger as we age.

nope, fear usually gets smaller as you age.
Actually, I had those phobias when I was younger. Now that I am 51, they are alot less. Now I love flying and wouldnt have it any other way.
I’ve experienced several kinds of phobias throughout my life. I have worked very hard to get rid of them as much as possible and have a more fulfilling life. So with me as I’ve aged, my phobias are either gone, or less strong because I’ve worked on them. It has been a difficult journey but well worth it. You’re probably experiencing it more intensely because you may be having more panic attacks during situations that trigger them. Or perhaps, as you’re aging, you are more anxious in general than when you were younger. As time goes by the phobia can become stronger because of your thoughts about the situations that are scary and causing anxiety.
I had the fear of heights, tall buildings, and public speaking when I was younger. Now I fear neither because I have conquered them. Have a great day!
