Not in the US. If you say no, then no means no. The only exception is if you are a danger to yourself or others. This is a major rule in medicine. You do have to be of a certain age though. For example a 9 year old wouldn't be able to do it, but a 15 year old could. Many states have rules about what age it is. The reason for this confidentiality rule is to protect you from any kind of reprisal from your parents, or family.

This is just a general example:

Jenny is a healthy 15 year old girl who came in for counseling about her eating disorder. After evaluation, Jenny aluded to a possible sexual trauma at the hands of one of her parents. Jenny requested that her parents not be informed.

The only contact the therapist may make is to law enforcement for the abuse. No mention may be made to the parents regarding the content of the session.

And no, it doesn't matter who is paying for the session. Confidential means just that. The only time information may cross is in the case of family therapy. Even then, the rules are rather tricky. Doctors actually take whole courses dedicated to medical ethics.

I hope this was helpful.

Therapists and psychologists can tell your parents anything they want if you are under 18, as long as it threatens your well being.
