Anxiety..?
I suffered from anxiety last month.
It had nothing to do with school, but ever since, I’ve been feeling anxious the evening before I have school for no apparent reason. So, it’s only on Saturdays that I have a relaxed day without worry. Why is this? Is it anxiety? Should I talk to my parents about it? Like, I’ve told them I sometimes feel anxious, but should I tell them I’m concerned about it?
(I’m 13 years old.)

Yes, I agree. You should tell your parents. As a person with GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder), not treating your anxious feelings (however severe) will only exacerbate them. There are anti-anxiety medications like benzodiazepines such as alprazolam (Xanax), clonazepam (Klonopin), and lorazepam (Ativan). I take a medication called hydroxyzine (Vistaril). It helps with the nauseous feelings I get when I am anxious.
Anxiety is your body’s reaction to stress. Sometimes you may feel anxious with no apparent reason. Anxiety can lead to panic attacks and those with treatment can be managed.
When I feel anxious I do the following:
+ I talk to a friend (especially one who has anxiety)
+ I write in a journal or blog
+ I concentrate on all of my worrying thoughts and focus on just worrying until I can’t think up anymore reasons to be nervous about something
+ If I have an anxious thought I say, "Stop!" out loud to help me recognize the thoughts so they don’t keep tossing in my head
+ I do breathing exercises (inhale for seven, exhale for eleven)
+ I sing aloud
Learn the triggers to your anxiety if you can. I find that preparation lessens my anxiety. I:
+ make sure I’m early to class, work, and all my appointments
+ I schedule everything in a planner
+ I think at least a day ahead, but not so far ahead that I begin to worry about the future
I know having anxiety can be scary sometimes, but you’re not alone and if you ever need to talk or have questions you can message me.
Take care, dear.
You should talk to your parents about it because talking about it will help relieve it, if nothing else, and also they will be informed if it gets bad enough that you need medical intervention from a professional. Together, you can decide when and if that becomes necessary.
You can also try some meditation on those nights when you feel anxious in order to relieve your stress. And writing in a journal also is a great way to not only relieve stress but also get to know yourself and therefor get to the bottom of why you are feeling the anxiety to begin with. I would start writing all of your thoughts and emotions, just anything that comes to mind, drawings , poetry, songs, anything at all. Just doodle if you want to. You will look back and learn a lot about yourself.
Good luck. Talk to your parents. The fact that you are considering it makes me believe they are receptive to you and will listen when you talk to them.
when you feel it just get up and do it. Get your mind off of the problem and just go.
I think you should talk to your parents about it tho’
