Americans, is there a real apprehension that there will be some sort of attack on Obama?
As an australian, i can see that there could be a real threat to the new presidents life is that echoed through out America???

There quite possibly could be, there are all sorts of racist groups out there. I hope not though, because if he is assassinated it’ll be just like after MLKJ or Malcolm X or JFK/RFK were assassinated, I wouldn’t look forward to the rioting.

Yes, I have been worried about that. I hope he is always wearing a bullet proof vest underneath his jacket. I hate to be so negative, but racism is still alive and well in the US, unfortunately.
I do think he has a good amount of protection, though.

What do you mean "As an Australian, I can see that there could be a real threat to the new President’s life .."? There is no more threat to his life as to any President’s life. No President ever angered the Islamic Terrorists more than President Bush. No one got to him.

I’m kinda worried about it… Especially today with the millions of people in DC. And I’m only an hour away from DC myself.
I really hope not – I think he’s going to be an awesome President.
Some might say the same for President Bush also…..he’s got quite the target on his back! And he’s still alive and kicking….

I really hope he stays safe. I know security is going to be on high alert.
I really am hopeful that America has grown and matured enough to be able to take this next step for our country. I would really hate to see the hate mongrels out. I am hopeful that we as a country are ready to look beyond skin color. We are one nation
We should always be worried about that with any President, and although it is sad we should be especially worried because of the hate groups that are not happy Obama is President. Luckily today went off without a hitch! I do not anticipate any problems for Obama, the only people the CIA has investigated so far are rednecks that do not have the brain capacity to organize an assassination =)
