agoraphobia???
does anyone else here deal with agoraphobia?
have you recovered from it? what did you do to get over your fears??
Ive had agoraphobia for about 2.5 years now. it was really bad to the point that i wouldnt leave the house hardly at all, not i leave the house a lot but i dont drive myself anywhere. i only go if someone is taking me because Im scared to have a panic attack while i drive.
would love to hear from other people who have dealt with agoraphobia!!

I used to have it really badly. Now it’s only moderate. I went to counseling for a while for it, and although it still affects me, I try to tell myself that nothing bad is going to happen to me. Still I feel really awkward when I leave the house sometimes.
counceling will help you alot and you’ve taken a big leap when you have someone drive you instead of you. keep at it and definetly tell your councelor about that, he/she will give you steps on what you can do and listen to what you have to say so that you will improve alittle more each day. i hope things will get better for you, best wishes~
YES. I hate it. It comes and goes. I have had it for years. I never took any medication for it. I usually have a ”safe” person with me. If I am alone its usually alot worse. Its worse around my pms days.
The best thing I have done for myself is force myself and leave the house every single day even for 2 minutes.
I carry alot of candy in my purse, mostly mints and when I start to get edgy I shove on in my mouth and sometimes it helps.
I feel for you but know its just a state of mind. Its a terrible terrible feeling but it cannot hurt you or kill you. It can be dealt with.
I have dealt with my sister refusing to leave the house or wanting to be in the public view,she does not like to be looked at, I have started getting her to come out at night and sit in the dark in front of her house,next we take small walks very small,she lives a very happy life and her fear of being outside of her comfort zone is getting better since I have now found she has a strong fear of getting old and this is why she does not want people who dont’ know her to see her, I am helping her with this by helping her improve her physical appearence, she is very beautiful but in her eyes she sees a ugly face, she is healing very slowly, and prayer is her main source of healing,stay blessed
I used to be like that and then my husband told me one day I need to grow the heck up and he wasnt going to spend his life doing something for me that I could do for myself. It took me about a week but then I was fine. It was stupid to go from one fear to another just because I had a glitch in my brain. You will never be able to work thru it unless you change the way you do things. SOrry probably not what you want to hear.
I actually starting getting like that after breaking my ankle and just couldnt get around, by the time I was able to I started getting really anxious and everything was really loud and bright, I started to panic, but then realised that I was in a wheelchair and nobody could help me, so I just kept taking deep breathes until it subsided, I still cant handle large shopping malls or noisy places cause the dread comes back, but otherwise everything seems to be okay, hope you are too, goodluck and take care!
I am still deal with it. I have not get over yet. I had a few attack and I dare not to drive nowaday because I had a attack in Jan 08 while I was driving. I dare not to walk to a place which no people or only few people around. I will easily have a attack when I walk on the road on the raining day. I don’t know what to do now.
